Newsletter #1 out now!

Green Skills 4 VET project issued its first Newsletter in early 2024.

Want to have information about what we are doing? In this section you’ll find updates about the partnership activities, the organizations taking part in the project, as well as its implementation steps.

Mostly, we’re going to talk about the sustainability trends and factors impacting the natural environment.

In particular, the production, manufacturing and industry sectors are the ones causing pollution and urban congestion, but they also have many sources and innovative technologies to reduce the impact of emissions, natural resources draining and contamination.

Across our project, 4 main key production and industrial sectors were chosen:

  • the primary production sector (agriculture, forestry and animal production) represented by EPAQL farming school and AAPIM Association of Mountains’ Farmers in Portugal;
  • the food-mechanical sector, represented by GADDA comprehensive secondary shool and Frigomeccanica refrigeration system company in Italy;
  • the fashion-textile sector, represented by SIC LJ technical school and Dolejsi Fashion Button Company in Slovenia;
  • the logistic and transportation sector, represented by SCP road traffic school and TOKIC automotive logistic company in Croatia.

The partnership is led by Cisita Parma, a managerial, clerical and youth training centre in the heart of the Food Valley in Italy, with the help of the strategic consultancy company Prospektiker from Spain, Basque Country, taking care of dissemination.

To promote the education/business cooperation within the project, the partnership includes 4 different countries (Italy, Portugal, Croatia and Slovenia) where matching couples composed by a VET institution and a manufacturing/service company or an association were involved.

Newsletter #1 can be downloaded from the Deliverables page of the official website.

We got the project started!

Green Skills 4 VET partnership started to work early in November 2023, with a virtual kick off meeting including all the partners from the 5 countries involved: Italy, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia and Croatia.

Partners share the workplan and the schedule of the project’s activities:

During the meeting, a variety of issues about the topic of environmental sustainability were discussed, according to the factors impacting each sector and the relevant production and manufacturing activities:

  • for agriculture, soil protection from chemical hazards and water management
  • for food plant mechanics, the problems involving refrigeration systems, energy consumption and the logistical issue of delivering plant components to a relevant site
  • for the textile sector, the partnership decided to focus onto the button making industries, presenting sustainability issues especially about the recycling of plastic and polyester
  • for logistics, zero emission vehicles, as well as the optimization on loads and traffic route and last mile delivery/urban freight are the hottest topics.
